International Relations Office (ORI)

The International Relations Office (ORI) at EUM is a key driver of the institution’s global outlook and its commitment to educating globally competent graduates. Its mission is to design, coordinate and promote initiatives that embed an international, intercultural and multilingual dimension across academic life.

Through a personalised and student-centred approach, ORI supports students, faculty and staff in accessing international opportunities that enhance both academic learning and professional development.

Internationalisation of the curriculum: learning in a global environment

Beyond physical mobility, ORI actively promotes the internationalisation of the curriculum by integrating global perspectives into teaching and learning:

  • Development of COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) projects, enabling students to collaborate with international peers virtually.
  • Design of academic activities with intercultural and comparative perspectives.
  • Integration of global, linguistic and intercultural competences into courses.
  • Collaboration between faculty members from different countries to create innovative learning experiences.

This approach ensures that all students benefit from an internationalised education, regardless of their participation in physical mobility.

Mobility programmes: a transformative experience

ORI offers a wide range of mobility opportunities tailored to diverse academic and personal profiles:

Short-term mobility

  • Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP): innovative international experiences combining virtual learning with short-term physical mobility. These programmes allow students to work on real international projects and gain practical skills.

Long-term mobility

  • Erasmus+ Programme: study exchanges or internships across Europe, with full academic recognition and institutional support.
  • Prometeu Programme and other international initiatives: mobility opportunities beyond Europe, expanding the global dimension of the student experience.

All mobility programmes include comprehensive support before, during and after the experience, ensuring academic quality and meaningful impact.

Staff mobility and professional development

International engagement is also essential for staff development. ORI promotes:

  • Teaching and training periods abroad
  • Participation in international academic and innovation projects
  • Exchange of best practices and methodologies
  • Development of international professional and academic networks

These experiences directly contribute to teaching excellence and institutional innovation.

A strong and expanding global network

Escola Universitària Mediterrani collaborates with over 100 partner universities worldwide, enabling:

  • A wide range of destinations and programmes
  • Joint academic and research initiatives
  • Both incoming and outgoing mobility opportunities
  • Long-term strategic partnerships

ORI also manages the reception of international students, ensuring their academic and cultural integration.

Preparing for a global future

Engaging in international programmes allows students and staff to:

  • Develop key intercultural competences
  • Enhance language proficiency
  • Strengthen academic and professional profiles
  • Gain life-changing international experiences
  • Increase employability in a global job market

Internationalisation is not an option—it is a core element of higher education in the 21st century.
