The ICT Tourism cluster of the Government of Catalonia is born

The aim of the ICT tourism cluster is to bring together companies with hybrid business models between technology and tourism, aimed at other companies or the end consumer, together with agents of the technology and knowledge ecosystem, such as universities and technology centers.

In Catalonia, the ICT tourism sector is made up of 371 companies, 76% of which are SMEs and are dedicated to travel technology, consultancy, reservation and connectivity management or establishment management software, among others.

At a time of change and technological evolution, the purpose of the cluster is to be a dynamic element and a stimulus for all the companies that make up the Catalan tourism sector. An industry that in recent years has experienced a growing digitization of its services. In fact, technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence or internet of things are increasingly present among companies.

Currently, the ICT tourism cluster, driven through the Directorate General of Industry and the Directorate General of Tourism, and today has been officially presented and Mediterrani has been there to be part of this great challenge.

What do you think about this kind of projects to boost the tourism sector in Catalonia?
