New concepts in Tourism
Summer is here and we want to tell you about the new trends in tourism, so that you start thinking about your next destination and, why not, about becoming an expert in the sector, because if you can travel while you work and You may find yourself facing the job of your dreams.
You can prepare yourself in the sector by accessing the Degree in Tourism offered by Mediterrani. This Degree provides a strategic vision focused on management and business while providing a connection with travel, cultures, languages and human relations.
Today we talk about new concepts in the sector and their meaning.
Slow travel
In other words, travel more slowly and without haste. The priority of this type of tourism is the experience of the journey rather than the destination. Enjoy every step of the way, take a couple of weeks to get there, keep stopping, discovering new places.
A clear example of “Slow Travel” is Route 66 in the United States, a route that goes from the east coast to the west, the road has sections. Today it is considered a cult activity.
What is egressive tourism?
Egressive or outgoing tourism, are resident visitors who travel to other countries for less than 12 months for any reason, except to obtain remuneration at the place of destination, change residence, look for work, etc. In other words, knowing a specific place from within as part of its resident community. We can learn the local language, learn about its traditions and culture, enjoy the local cuisine. Unfortunately, this type of tourism is not suitable for everyone’s pocket and there is a tendency towards a retired public.
Eco-friendly tourism
Being a sustainable tourist involves worrying about and taking care of the protection of the tourist sites that are visited, respect for the host communities and the cultural and natural heritage of the destination. A Booking report revealed that 60% of Spanish travelers tend to choose eco-friendly destinations more. For their part, 74% of them are convinced that the sustainability of tourism is a need that is worth highlighting.
We leave you with a perfect example of eco-tourism, the Galapagos Islands, belonging to Ecuador.
Due to its geographical location, it is decisive to form a biodiverse environment for its flora and fauna, receiving different ocean currents. It also has a lot of international appreciation that helps its conservation, being considered a Natural Heritage of Humanity.
Its charm lies mainly in the possibility of interacting with the various species of terrestrial and marine animals, through its main activities: snorkeling, diving and excursions aimed at observing animals.
Ed-ventures
The new term Ed-ventures is being taken into account by parents as an educational leisure alternative for their children.
We talk about educational camps, school farms, historical routes, day trips to museums or exhibitions… the list is quite long and suitable for all economies.
Frikitrip
Concept that explains everything with its name. If you are a movie geek, or a video game geek, have you ever wanted to go see the landscapes of your favorite movie.
Are we going to New Zealand to glimpse the Lord of the Rings? Or Tuscany to visit Moteriggioni, location of Assassin’s Creed II; I could quote “Lost in translation” visiting the world’s busiest crossing at Shibuya. Or any traditional Kurosawa movie visiting houses of former samurai chiefs. Or walk through the thousands of toris that make up Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto, the sanctuary that became fashionable thanks to “Memoirs of a Geisha”.
The hermitage of Gaztelugatxe in Bizkaia, which does not surprise us at all that this spectacular site has been chosen for the seventh season of Game of Thrones.
We could dedicate an entire blog post to mentioning movie sites that we would like to visit.
Digital Nomads
Although it is not a type of tourism “per se”, but I cannot fail to mention digital nomads, a digital nomad is a person who uses the Internet to carry out their occupation and/or to sell their knowledge to other people or Business. In other words, he works remotely, an issue that allows him to lead a “nomadic life”, that is, to be able to live traveling and discovering new places every so often. They even touch on egressive tourism a bit if they want to stay somewhere for a longer period of time.
