Intermodal transport in Spain: comparative analysis with Europe, challenges and future perspectives as a strategic objective
New academic article in the area of Logistics on intermodal transport in Spain, carried out in collaboration between three EUM lecturers and a researcher from the Department of Business, a former student of the Degree in Business Logistics.
The prestigious academic publication Boletín de la Asociación Española de Geografía has published in its issue 102 (December 2024) the article entitled “Intermodal transport in Spain: comparative analysis with Europe, challenges and future prospects as a strategic objective” (https://bage.age-geografia.es/ojs/index. php/bage/article/view/3541), written by Professor Dr. Óscar Gutiérrez Aragón, Professor Dr. Ariadna Gassiot Melian (until last year, member of the faculty of the School), Professor Dr. Miguel Guillén Pujadas and the researcher of the Department of Business Oriol Sánchez Casademunt, former student of the Degree in Business Logistics at EUM.
The main objective of the research carried out is to determine the current situation of freight transport and intermodality in Spain, concluding that, although intermodality in Spain is currently not efficient and is not a strategic objective, it should be in the medium term, since, with the appropriate investment and planning, it will contribute to promoting efficient and sustainable freight transport management.
This article not only provides a critical and detailed view of logistics challenges, but also highlights the importance of strengthening training in this area. At EUM University we are proud that our faculty and graduates, in this case Oriol Sánchez Casademunt, contribute research that advances knowledge and provides practical solutions to real problems. This achievement underlines our commitment to academic excellence and positive impact on society.
