Following a Personal Learning Environment (PLE) approach, the Doctor of Psychology and professor at the Mediterrani University School (center attached to the University of Girona), Gaspar Berbel, together with the center, have promoted the statistics manual that will revolutionize the educational world
Next Friday, December 13, at 7:15 p.m., the result of this work on qualitative and quantitative research techniques that Dr. Berbel has been doing for years will be presented in classroom 71 of EU Mediterrani.
This result has been included in a book – manual that aims to make statistical training more enjoyable by taking advantage of integrated resources to a Symbaloo (blogs, mobile applications, calculators and online libraries). An original format that according to its author “is an approach to the new paradigm of training, where a teacher or a manual has to be simple elements within the learning environment that must be built who learns, integrating other sources such as: others experts, tools, videos, not forgetting the own achievements or products that who learns has to elaborate. It’s about showing content, but above all stimulating curiosity.”
The new manual – reviewed by a group of 10 professionals, teachers and researchers – aims to adapt to new learning formats, understanding the demands and needs of current students. That is why the author facilitates the understanding of key concepts of statistics through bullet points or comics, and that incorporates a video channel to the YouTube platform where statistical procedures and the use of IBM SPSS and Stata are shown. The tool also has an APP for smartphones and tablets that, in a planned way, allows to relate variables (hypothesis contrast tests) and serves as a guide for students, researchers and professors, who can see how these are made and interpreted. Simple and intuitive tests.
Berbel, the promoter of the manual, explains that this obvious commitment to technology aims to “facilitate the task of people who want to understand what it is to investigate, how an investigation is initiated, how data is collected, how they are treated, how they relate to each other , and how a scientific document (such as final degree projects, final master projects, papers or doctoral thesis), how to apply different qualitative and quantitative techniques in research; with the help of an important handful of resources that already exist and of the app ”. An approach to statistics and research techniques that leaves no one indifferent.
